Check It Out!

Hey There!  Happy Friday (and Happy June!) to you.  Apologies for my radio silence over here lately…I like to think that blogging is a lot like your health and fitness.  There will always be periods where you’re super gung ho, and then other times where you fall off the wagon, but the good news is that each day is the opportunity to start anew.

So on that note, I wanted to pop in with a quick hello to share a clip of Uplift Studios (and yours truly!) that was featured on The Today Show last week.  It was so much fun, and I hope that if you are ever in the neighborhood that you stop in and see me.

Next week I’ll be back in action with a brand-new workout to get your summer weight loss kick-started with some ass-melting exercises.  Until then…have a healthy, fun weekend!

Links That Make You Go Hmmm…

Hey Everyone!  Today’s been a crazy day, and to be honest with you, I’m a little all over the place, putting out fires in every direction, so this post is going to be a quick one.

I thought it would be fun to bring over a little feature I’ve done on my other blog (which has been painfully neglected in favor of this one, but that’s okay!), dubbed “Links That Make You Go Hmmm.”  Because really, why would I waste a perfectly good C+C Music Factory reference?  In these posts I will share links to what I consider to be thought-provoking articles, videos and whatever else in order to hopefully spark a discussion about the issues at hand.

Today’s links both caught my attention because they have to do food, and our increasing obsession with what’s considered “good” and “bad,” and how that impacts us and shapes our way of thinking.  I’ve already talked about how I think that you should focus on you, first and foremost, but I thought that these are both pretty interesting pieces to share within that context:

- Frank Bruni’s New York Times op-ed piece about the Anthony Bourdain vs. Paula Deen throw-down, culinary elitism and the effect on America’s obesity epidemic.

- Have you heard of Orthorexia, an eating disorder that is focused on an obsession with healthy eating?  To learn more, check out this segment that was on The Today Show this morning:
